So, I can't say Watain's show yesterday in Gagarin 205 was that amazing, but at least I managed to catch a guitar pick lol. And to grab a free poster while leaving the club.

In fact I'm not that good at guitar picks catching, and my little collection of caught guitar picks hadn't expanded since February 2018, I think. So it is my first concert trophy of this kind since I left Russia.

And also it was my first visit to Gagarin 205 this year.

As for the other things, the Spring is certainly and visibly coming. Mosquitoes have arrived, and so have the flies. And a few days ago I even killed a middle-sized cockroach right on my table. Yeah, while I lived in cold Russia, I totally forgot about cockroaches, but here in Greece they are widespread and constitute a serious problem. Hot climate, abundancy of leftovers, doors and windows which remain open for the whole season, general lack of hygiene - and here you are, during Summer months cockroaches are everythere. Well, at least hordes of stray cats take care of rats and mice, otherwise situation would have been really horrible.

But cockroaches, yeah, fucking cockroaches. Cats aren't interested in them, so there is basically nothing you can do. They come through ventilation or just climb the walls from the outside. Keep your kitchen clean, empty your garbage bin as often as possible and hope for the best.

Seems like cicadas also appeared, but I'm not quite sure. I hear some noise from time to time, but their constant night buzz is yet to begin.

But what I'm absolutely sure is that a kilogram of qiwi fruits costs 70 cents at the local market, and a plastic box of strawberries costs about the same. Yeah, I've been today at the local market, and for unknown reasons they are open on Sunday. As for the sweet cherry, it has also appeared in some places, and a kilogram costs about €4. I think it's too expensive and haven't tasted it yet.

And figs, figs are of course not ripe yet, but as fig trees in Greece grow everythere, by themselves, without any human help, just like weed, unripe figs are already falling and dirtying the pavements together with sour oranges, which are ripe and are falling since December, I guess, and still continue to fall, while the trees are already blossoming (since the end of April). So they fall down on the marble pavement, they split when they hit it, they are squashed by cars or by pedestrians wandering through the dark narrow streets, they are losing their juice and mixing with dogshit and finally they rot. Imagine that smell yeah. Especially mixed with the smell of blossoming trees. Lol.

And I have to say this is the true smell of Athens. Yeah, it is.

Rotten sour oranges, dogshit and blossoming trees. And maybe a whiff from a traditional bakery nearby.

So that's what life looks like here in Athens at the beginning of May.
