So, I've listened to the new Rammstein album about ten times now.
As far as I understand, it leaked on May 15th, and I've been already listening it yesterday, but I think that now I'm ready to say a few words about it.
Well, surprisingly it is not as bad as I expected.
In fact, I think that their previous album, 2009's LIFAD, is total and utter shit, I'm not even sure if I've listened to it more than two times. There are a few tracks off it I like, namely "Pussy", "Roter Sand" and "Fruhling in Paris". And maybe "Haifisch" and "Ich tu dir weh".
But that's basically all.
As for the new album, it seems more electronic, and today, when I think about the past, the past in which I used to be a fan of this band, I think the real reason behind my affection was that certain bland of electronic and guitar music which characterised my favourite albums by them, Sehnsucht and Mutter.
After these albums, IMHO, they went to shit. I can't say anything good about their next three albums. A few decent songs, but all in all - meh.
Yeah, maybe my taste changed, maybe I became older and more fastidious, maybe... Whatever.
But with their new album it seems to me they returned to their zenith.
There are songs I've listened ten times already or even more.
Still, they seem fresh and entertaining.
Yeah, it's pretty strange to think that twenty years had passed since I heard this band for the first time.
And ten years had passed since the release of their previous album.
And still their new album is solid, relevant and worth listening.
Yeah, times had changed, and what is really amazing is a degree to which they had changed.
It's like living in a completely different universe, in a completely new dimension, if you compare 2019 to 2009. Nothing in common.
Only Rammstein lol.
Maybe Rammstein is the sole reason we live and the universe exists. Maybe. Why not. The longer we live, the more obvious it becomes.
So, yeah, if I had to rank their songs from this album, considering my present taste, it will be something like that:
Auslander
Radio
Deutschland
Zeig dich
Weit Weg
Was Ich liebe
Everything else
But, all in all, everything is good on this album. Especially if you take into consideration their age and time which passed since their previous release.
